Never Forget

I am the daughter of a retired Air Force Colonel and both of my Grandfathers served their country.   Today, my 18 year old son is a member of the Army Reserves as a Signal Support Systems Specialist. To say that I always have and always will support our Military and their families would be an understatement.  To say that I am beyond proud would also be an understatement.

For the past few years,  I have been honored to be actively involved with an organization called Victory For Vets,  whose mission is to raise awareness of the need to help our Veterans, particularly those who suffer with PTS, reintegrate into their communities.

Through my position of Benefit Coordinator,  I have seen not only the difference members of the community can make by volunteering and donating, but also the impact we can have on the lives of service men and women who have given so much to ensure our freedom.

I have also been shocked at the statistics. ….there are over 49,000 homeless Veterans in our country. …the divorce rate among military couples throughout the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq increased 42% …1 in 5 Veterans are diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress…and approximately 22 Veterans commit suicide every day. Read that again ….TWENTY TWO VETERANS COMMIT SUICIDE EVERY DAY! !

These are staggering numbers,  and as a society,  I belive it is our DUTY  to change them, and to show these men and women who have sacrificed so much that we will NOT forget them when they return home!

Individually, we my not be able to do much, but together,  we can make a difference. ..one Veteran at a time.  Won’t you join us in making a difference?   If not you, who?  If not now,  when? ?
